Minecraft Oval Generator

Set a width and a height in blocks and get a pixel-perfect oval (ellipse), with the number of blocks in every row. Filled or hollow, sealed or thin walls.

Hover or tap a block to highlight its row and column.

Runs read left to right, alternating blocks and gaps: 2-6-2 = 2 blocks, 6 empty, 2 blocks.

Building an oval

Ovals are good for arenas, ponds, racetracks, ship hulls and stretched towers. Type the width (east to west) and the height on the grid (north to south) in blocks. Each dimension can be odd or even independently: an odd side has a single middle row or column, an even side has a pair. The grid shows every block and the table lists how many go in each row and how they split into runs.

The oval is the one that exactly fits the box you chose, so a 31 × 19 oval touches all four sides of a 31 × 19 rectangle. Type the same number for both and you get a circle; the circle generator keeps width and height locked together for you.

Tall oval walls

For an oval tower or tank, switch to Cylinder: it uses the same oval footprint (width × length) and repeats it for as many layers as you set, filled or as walls only.

How the shape is worked out

A block is placed when the centre of that block lies inside the circle (or oval, sphere or dome) that exactly fits the width and height you chose. Outlines keep every block of the filled shape that is within your thickness of the outside: Sealed counts corner neighbours too, so the inside never touches the outside even diagonally and the wall has no diagonal gaps; Thin counts only side neighbours, which uses fewer blocks but lets wall blocks meet at a corner.
